My body of work has moved through several divergent ideas, however, at the end they all

relate to the theme of subjective perspective of the individual and their vision. I have

attempted to tackle this theme in various aspects; utilizing different techniques, media, and

concepts in order to reach m

y aim. Moreover, in a myriad of years, plenty of artists have

fabricated an array of art pieces that withhold artistic merit. These art pieces, include similar

formal qualities applied to artists such as: Francis Bacon, and Vincent Van Gogh, and possess timeless themes. These themes include mental state, and other topics such as suffering and anxiety that are salient regarding less of the dissimilarities in the era, being Paleozoic,Mesozoic and Cenozoic, and more of the similarities, that connect them together coherently.

In essence, I am attempting to connect with the audience by utilizing a timeless theme, which is subjective vision and distortion, and applying formal qualities to present my body of work, and successfully achieving my aim. To further explain, my aim is to create pieces that the audience can relate to, and provide a basis for the cognizance of a distorted, almost dystopian or utopian reality. More importantly, I will be applying the way of knowing, being sense perception to my theme, since we use our eyes to see, however, this vision is distorted due to

perspectives deriving from a multitude of individuals and ideas, and censorship from media,

and other aspects.

To begin with, I will be applying objects to all my pieces that connect to vision; either being

eyes using paint, or sequins to give the essence of an eye, or surveillance cameras to associate

with the main aim, which is to to tackle visual distortion and subjectivity, which is embedded

within every single individual in the world. Also, I will apply sequins by utilizing needles and

scattering them around my pieces, like Michael Mapes, to give a sense of fragmentation since

it is a type of distortion, and allows for sync and harmony if done in more than one piece. In

addition, I got inspiration from Francis Bacon, and Salvador Dali, since they distorted the

images that they had constructed, however, they eventually provided a dissimilar outcome to

their audience due to the materials utilized, and the method in which they displayed the

distortion. In my work, I am exploring one concept, with many themes; being the distorted

vision with subjectivity, fragmentation and sense perception. I applied, using tacit

knowledge, my personal experiences, which would be brought together to construct my aim,

being to shed light on a false reality that us individuals live in, which has become false due to

distortion, and previously stated aspects. I used experiences, not by applying them directly to

my pieces through explicit signs and symbols, but rather to use the collection to give me an

idea of the method that would be utilized to create the pieces.

The layout and the method in which I display my pieces will contribute to the means that I

will attempt to convey to my audience who view my different art pieces. The strategy I will

utilize will hopefully give a visual impact onto the audience in order to develop a relationship

between the artwork and viewer. The strategy will be the use of formal qualities, and creation

in an imbalance in the color scheme of my work being light and dark hues and tones, to

contrast with the symmetry in the layout to further tackle my topic of visual distortion and to

juxtapose the divergence between real life and the way in which life has been morphed and

twisted due to our perspectives and the way in which media censors such ideology, since the

contrast will be associated with a false reality for the audience. In addition, I use different

materials including paint, plaster, etc. in order to reveal how our views could be transfigured

concerning many aspects in our lives, and what could distort these views, being censorship

and blockage of certain information that gradually causes obstruction in the way we see

things.

Throughout our days’ individuals ponder prior conversations and feelings they had felt, viewing certain situations and conversations in personal ways. Thus, I reveal this by placing various eyes in the background.
